Music Beyond the Classroom
Music is a critical part of many young people's lives in school, with not only lessons happening within the curriculum, but outside as well. We have 14 different ensembles that happen throughout the week, providing our students with a well-rounded musical curriculum as well as nearly 300 students learning instruments every week with 14 peripatetic teachers that teach a vast range of instruments. We perform regularly both in and out of the school environment with regular concerts with the RAF Central and Regiment Bands, as well as masterclasses from the Royal Academy of Music and the world-renowned composer and former Queens Master of Music, Judith Weir. We also have very experienced staff within the curricular side of music, which includes two Heads of Year and the Assistant Principal Moderator for Eduqas GCSE Composition/the Principle Moderator of WJEC GCSE new specification. We are also an Artsmark school which was awarded to us in 2024.
