Job Title:                            EXAM INVIGILATOR

                                                Term-time – December and summer term exam periods

Reports to:                      Examinations Manager            

Salary:                           £15.52 per hour.  (Lead invigilators £17.84 per hour)                                

Working Days:        Zero hour contract – days to suit

Working Hours:           Zero hour contract – hours to suit

Place of Work:              Vyners School

We now have exciting opportunities for reliable and committed individuals to become exam invigilators during the main examination periods in December, May and June each year.  Successful applicants will provide effective supervision of the examination room and be responsible for conducting the exam, playing a key role in upholding the integrity of the external examination / assessment process.  This is under the guidance of an experienced Lead Invigilator.  This role would suit an experienced, responsible and mature candidate, who is available to work during the key examination times.

General Exam sessions are usually within these times:

Morning sessions                     -        8.00am  (varied finish times up to 1.15pm)

Afternoon sessions                  -        12.30pm  (varied finish times up to 4.45pm)

The successful applicant will:

  • Distribute and collect exam papers
  • Seat and register the candidates
  • Actively invigilate – walk around the exam hall, monitor student behaviour and respond to their requests.
  • Exercise authority, be well organise and show initiative

Invigilators should:

  • Ensure all candidates have an equal opportunity to demonstrate their abilities
  • Ensure the security of the examination beforehand, during and afterwards
  • Prevent possible candidate malpractice
  • Prevent possible administrative failures
  • Be familiar with the instructions outlined by the examining bodies
  • Give their full attention to conducting the exam properly and inform the Exams Manager if they have any concerns about the exam process.

Vyners is a very popular and oversubscribed mixed eight form entry, 11-18 comprehensive school, situated in a pleasant residential area in North West London, bordering Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire.    We have a track record of real success at all Key Stages.  In 2025, 81% of students achieved grades 9-4 in both English and Maths at GCSE and we are consistently ranked in the top 10% of all non-selective schools nationally for progress measures and attainment.   At A-Level 25% of all grades were A* - A and 57% A* - B.   The school converted to academy status on 1 November 2011 and is part of the Vanguard Learning Trust which also includes one other secondary and three primary schools.
