Salary:    £8,455pa (4 hrs a days, Mon – Thur)
Hours:    1.00pm – 5.00pm              (Term time plus 5 INSET days)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a LIBRARY AND RESOURCE CENTRE (LRC) ASSISTANT for four hours a day, four days a week.  The successful applicant will supervise the use of the LRC by students at lunchtime and after school, whilst providing supervision of homework clubs each day.  Also involved in this role will be the management of issuing and returning of books.  This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced, confident and proactive candidate who wish to develop their student facing / supervision experience.  Previous experience of working in a school environment is desirable but not essential.

Vyners is a very popular and oversubscribed mixed eight form entry, 11-18 comprehensive school, situated in a pleasant residential area in North West London, bordering Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire.    We have a track record of real success at all Key Stages. The school converted to academy status on 1 November 2011 and is part of the Vanguard Learning Trust which also includes one other secondary and three primary schools.

We are well known for high academic standards, good behaviour, and our strong community spirit including a strong house system with students leading their peers.  “Pupils have a positive attitude towards their work and enjoy learning” (Ofsted 2019).  Many students are involved in extracurricular sport, music and drama, performing at a high level including prestigious public events and performing in our own school productions. 

Applicants need to have:

  • A good general level of education with experience of playing an integral part of a small team.
  • Able to relate well to young people and work independently.
  • A clear interest in reading, and able to communicate that to students.
  • A good sense of humour and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • A self-starter, capable of working to deadlines and be able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Flexibility and adaptability.
  • Resourcefulness, resilience and initiative.
