We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified teacher of Mathematics who has a real enthusiasm for the subject and who is capable of teaching across all Key Stages.  The post would equally suit a newly qualified or experienced teacher who has obtained a good degree in Mathematics or transferrable discipline.  The ability or willingness to teach A-Level Mathematics and/or Further Maths is desirable but not essential.  For NQTs, three weeks’ work in July is offered as an induction to the school.

Our students are enthusiastic, motivated and seek to reach the high expectations we have of them.  The Mathematics Department at Vyners is ranked in the top 4% of all maths departments in the country with consistently outstanding GCSE results; in 2016 87% of students achieved an A*-C grade. Some of our Year 11 students also study the Level 2 Further Mathematics, consistently achieving figures above the National Average (79% A*-A vs 57% nationally). We have a high proportion of students continuing with Mathematics at AS and A level and a good number studying Further Mathematics.  In 2016 80% of students achieved an A*-B grade at A2 level vs 64% nationally.

Vyners is a very popular and oversubscribed mixed six form entry, 11-18 comprehensive school, situated in a pleasant residential area in North West London, bordering Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire.    We have a track record of real success at all Key Stages.  GCSE results are excellent and we are now ranked in the top 100 non-selective state schools in England. 80% of students achieved A*- C including English and Maths at GCSE and we are ranked in the top 9% of all schools nationally for progress measures.  At A-Level, in 2016, the school achieved its best ever results are we are now ranked in the top 4% of all sixth forms in the country for progress. The school converted to academy status on 1st November 2011 and is the lead school in the Vyners Learning Trust which also includes a primary school.

We are well known for high academic standards, good behaviour, and our strong community spirit including a strong house system with students leading their peers.  “Behaviour and attitudes are exceptional” (Ofsted 2013). Many students are involved in extracurricular sport, music and drama, performing at a high level including prestigious public events and performing in our own school productions.
